VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
MINNESOTA STATE FAIR
             

August 26 - September 6, 2010 

Minnesota State Fair AFL-CIO House of Labor Pavilion 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. 

Active and Retired Local 1833 members, who volunteer will receive one complimentary ticket to the Minnesota State Fair for that day. 

If you are interested in volunteering or need additional information, please call 952-854-6313 or stop by the Local Lodge office to sign up on the volunteer sheet. Thank you and we’ll see you at the fair.

VACANCY

Local Lodge Vice President

IAMAW Airline Local 1833 Executive Board announces a vacancy in the Executive Board. In accordance with Local Lodge Bylaws Article IV, Section V, “the President shall fill the vacancy by appointment with the advice and consent of the Executive Board. The person so appointed shall serve until such time as the next election may be held in the manner provided for in these Bylaws.”   

Any member interested in serving in the position above must be a member in good standing and meet the qualifications for office as outlined in the Bylaws.  

Any member interested should submit a written request to the Local Lodge Recording Secretary no later than 3:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2010. Requests for consideration may be faxed (952-854-1323), delivered in person or sent by U. S. P. S. to the Local Lodge address listed at the bottom of the page. Please, no e-mail submissions will be accepted.

The President and Executive Board will make this appointment at the dayshift Executive Board meeting on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. This appointment will be effective immediately and expire December 31, 2010.

NOTICE OF ELECTION

Local Lodge Officer, Grievance Committees and Chief Stewards

Nominations for any of the open positions listed below will be accepted at the dayshift union meeting on Thursday, September 9, 2010.

An election, (if needed) will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the locations listed below:

Any member wishing to be nominated, but unable to attend the meeting may submit a written request to the Local Lodge Recording Secretary anytime prior to the start of the union meeting. Candidates for any officer position of the Local Lodge must meet the qualifications as stated in the Local Lodge Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2. 

Requests for absentee ballots will be available in accordance with the Grand Lodge Constitution and Local Lodge Bylaws. “Members who reside in outlying districts more than 25 miles from the designated polling place, who are either confined because of verified illness, or on vacation, or on leave qualifying under the U. S. Family Leave Laws or on official IAMAW business approved by the Local, District or Grand Lodge, or on employer approved travel assignments or reserve military leave are eligible to receive an absentee ballot.” Absentee ballot requests MUST be made in writing to the Recording Secretary by delivering in person or mailing such request no later than thirty (30) days before the election. It is important that everyone understand that whenever the term “mail’ is used in voting procedures, it means by the United States Postal Service. Requests for absentee ballots must be received at the Local no later than Sept. 14, 2010.

CALL FOR PROPOSED BYLAWS CHANGES

 Local Lodge Bylaws Article X, Section 1(e) Amendment of the Local Bylaws state:  

Proposed changes to the Airline Local Lodge 1833 Bylaws may be submitted to the Bylaws Committee only during the month of February. 

All proposals must be in writing, signed by at least one (1) member, and referred to a Bylaws Committee appointed by the Executive Board.  

Bylaw changes must be read as proposed at two (2) consecutive meetings. Immediately following the second reading, the Bylaws Committee shall submit their recommendations.  

The first reading of the proposed changes will be at the regular day shift business meeting on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at our regular meeting place at the Eagles Post #3208, 9152 Old Cedar Ave., Bloomington, MN. 

The second reading and vote on the proposed changes will be held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Eagles Post #3208, 9152 Old Cedar Ave., Bloomington, MN.  

Forms for submitting changes may be obtained at the Local Lodge office and/or Grievance/Shop Committee offices.
