Local 1833 Member Bobbie DePace attended the
Great Labor Arts Exchange at the George
Meaney National Labor College in Silver
Springs, Maryland June 21-23rd. This
exchange was run by the Labor Heritage
Foundation. It allowed union cultural
activists from across the globe to meet and
share union songs, poems, spoken word,
dance, and anything else creative. We had an
action in front of the White House to bring
attention to our concerns about Universal
Heath Care and the Employee Free Choice
Act to President Obama. We really had a
great time and the last night we had a
concert which was a blast for all of us.

Local 1833 2009 Summer Picnic
The
weather was picture perfect. A brilliant
sunny sky with a cool breeze was just right.
The food was sumptuous and plentiful. The
beer, wine, water and soft drinks were
refreshing and limitless. The ice cream
truck offered endless treats. The music, by
Bobby DePace, Sherbetty, and 3000 Mules was
entertaining and lifted our spirits. The
free passes to the Apple Valley Aquatic
Center offered a cool and pleasurable way to
beat the heat. The laughter and squeals
heard coming down the water slide was a sure
sign of the fun Local 1833 families
experienced. And of course, for the lucky
winners there were lucrative prizes donated
by our sponsors and raffles. The picnic was
a great way for us all to get our families
together, relax, catch up and have a good
time with our co-workers and friends. From
infants to grandparents, it was just plain
fun for everyone! After all, isn't that what
Solidarity is all about?
