Budget Committee |

The Budget Committee is
composed of seven (7) members, the President, the
Secretary-Treasurer, one (1) additional member of the Executive
Board and no more than four (4) members at large. This Committee
is responsible for making budgeting recommendations to the
Executive Board and the membership.
Local Lodge 1833 operates on a fiscal year of March 1st-end of
February. Once the operating Budget is established, each
Committee chair is required to submit a Budget Proposal. The
Budget Proposals are then studied by the Budget Committee and
recommendations are returned to the Executive Board.
The Budget is then presented to the membership for their approval.
As necessary throughout the year, as economic conditions change and
new challenges arise, the Budget Committee reviews the budget
and makes further recommendations on adjustments.

Bylaws Committee |
|
This Committee is composed of
seven (7) members who serve for one (1) year and are appointed
by the Executive Board with the approval of the membership.
Our Local Lodge Bylaws are amendable only during the month of
February of every odd numbered calendar year. The duty of the
Bylaws Committee is to receive all Local Lodge Bylaws proposals,
all resolutions for District Convention and Contract changes, to
study them and make recommendations to the membership. This
Committee is also responsible for bringing the Bylaws up to date
by the end of each calendar year, and by making those updates
available to the members with an appropriate insert. New Bylaws
Books are printed every four (4) years or as the needs of the
Local Lodge dictate.

Community
Services Committee |
|
The Community Service Committee
consists of up to eight (8) members.
This committee is
responsible for assisting and educating members in the community
services area including referring members to the proper agency
that specializes in their specific need.

Communications
Committee |
The Communications
Committee, consisting of the Communicator, the Editor's
staff, and no more than four (4) other members, shall
coordinate all communications and make recommendations of
content to be published in the Local Lodge newsletter and
maintain the official Local Lodge website.

Education Committee |

The Education Committee
consists of seven (7) members, the Educator who is appointed by
the President and the Vice President.This Committee is responsible for training the members of the local and
making educational opportunities available on a regular basis.
This Committee is also responsible for providing information to
new members on the structure of the IAM, the benefits of Union
membership, and any other subjects of benefit to the members.

Good & Welfare
Committee |

It is the duty of the Good
& Welfare Committee to investigate matters pertinent to the Good
& Welfare of the members of Local Lodge 1833.
Members on long term medical leaves whose company insurance
benefits have lapsed can apply to the Good & Welfare Committee
for compensation of their COBRA payments.

Grievance/Shop

Each Grievance/Shop
Committee is composed of up to three (3) elected members and is
elected by the employees it represents. Local 1833 has ten (10)
Grievance/Shop Committees, which represent our members in each
building, work group and agreement. One (1) member of each
committee shall be nominated in September and elected in October
for a term of three (3) years. The Grievance/Shop Committee is
available to the members to attend meetings between the member
and management, and to work with the company and the member to
resolve contract disputes. The job of the Committee is to
investigate and present Grievances to the company through the
first and second step hearings. Grievance Committees work
directly with District Officers (our bargaining agents) to interpret and
enforce contractual language.

Human Rights
Committee |

The Human Rights Committee is
responsible for monitoring collective bargaining contract
clauses governing, hiring, promotions, seniority, parental
leave, childcare, sexual harassment and other kinds of possible
discrimination as well as educating members on human rights
policies and procedure within the lodge and the workplace to
eliminate discrimination.

Legislative Committee |

The Legislative Committee
is composed of a minimum of three (3) and up to ten (10) members
appointed by the Executive Board for a term of one (1) year.
The Legislative Committee is responsible for keeping the
membership informed on legislation and political matters that
affect our interests. The Legislative Committee is also charged
with organizing and leading drives to assist in enacting
legislation that is favorable to labor. They should regularly
forward critical information to the Editor of the Local Lodge
newsletter.
Members of the Committee shall attend the convention meetings
of the State AFL-CIO, the Midwest Conference of Machinists and
the State Council of Machinists.

Organizing Committee |

The Organizing Committee
consists of three (3) members who are appointed by the Executive
Board, with the approval of the membership.
The Organizing Committee shall coordinate all organizing efforts
which would increase the number of unionized workers in the
Class and Crafts that this Local Lodge represents.
